Imani Development Foundation

The Imani Development Foundation (IDF) was established in 2009 after the Imani Development board decided to be increasingly proactive in its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

IDF owns 10% of the shares of Imani Development International Ltd which gives it a dividend income. The CEO is a non-executive Director of Imani Development and is active in ensuring that the Imani Code of Ethics is embedded in decision-making as well as being pro-active within the group developing projects in conjunction with the in country offices.  IDF is registered in Scotland as a Company Limited by guarantee with charitable status.  It is managed from the Imani Development office in Oban.

IDF Purpose

To support the sustainable economic growth, including the impact of climate change and environmental degradation, of developing countries as part of Imani Development's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme by undertaking initiatives outside of the commercial activity.

Objectives

  1. To work with Imani Development in country offices helping provide a solution to specific needs identified by communities requiring economic development assistance that falls outside of
    normal commercial consultancy activity;
  2. To implement/manage trade and economic development projects , particularly in Eastern and Southern Africa, designed to help eradicate poverty in line with the UN Millennium Development Goals, in particular Goal 8 relating to trade and poverty reduction;
  3. To network with other trusts, foundations and donors in order to access additional finance enabling Imani Development to be pro-active in submitting trade and economic development projects for funding;
  4. To undertake UK development education work in the core expertise area of Imani Development;
  5. To develop plans and programs in the area of Eco-Services and Climate Change especially with regard to the economic impact involved;
  6. To facilitate Imani Development staff participating in and influencing the debate on national and international economic development and trade by preparing and presenting papers at conferences and preparing papers for publication;
  7. To help develop capacity in the field of economic development within developing countries;
  8. To be sustainable in the long term as part of the Imani Development group whilst fulfilling the organisational purpose.
